Community Events

Well we made it to Friday!  For those of you not wanting to sleep this weekend, here are a few community events happening:

Apr 29 2016 – 11:15am – 11:45am

The City of Sparks will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 29 at 11:15 a.m., with a tree planting at Lena Juniper Elementary School, 225 Queen Way. The school’s 3rd grade students will take part in the planting ceremony which honors the nation’s 144th anniversary of this special tree-planting day. The ceremony also marks the City’s 22nd year as a Tree City USA community.

Arbor Day was first held in Nebraska on April 10, 1872 in celebration of the planting of one million trees in the state. The annual observance was created to promote better communities worldwide by supporting efforts to protect trees and woodlands. Arbor Day serves to encourage citizens to plant trees for the well-being of this and future generations.
